REMODEL FAQ
Q: Do you offer project management within your remodel design packages?
A: No, our Essentials Design Package does not include ongoing project management after the design is complete. Once your finalized design is handed off to your contractor (or one of our recommended teams), our involvement transitions to a support role. When working with one of our partnered teams, we remain available to answer any design-related questions that may arise, though additional site visits or client communication would need to be arranged in advance.
Q: How do you charge? Do you make a percentage on materials?
A: We charge a flat fee for our design packages, while consulting services are billed hourly based on the number of hours booked. We do not take a markup on materials. In fact, we extend our exclusive trade discounts—typically ranging from 20–40% off retail pricing—directly to our clients, helping reduce overall project costs and maximize your budget.
Q: Do you receive any markups on labor or compensation from contractors?
A: No, we do not receive any markups or compensation from contractors. Our recommended teams are selected based on their skill, integrity, communication, and proven ability to deliver exceptional results—some of whom have partnered with us for over seven years. You’re always welcome to use your own contractor; our design plans are created to be easily handed off to any general contractor you choose. All labor costs are contracted directly between you and your GC, as BGH does not process or mark up any labor fees.
Q: How long does the design process take?
A: For a standard kitchen or primary bathroom remodel, we recommend allowing 3–4 weeks from the initial discovery appointment to the delivery of your final plan set. Our design process is structured to be efficient yet intentional, giving you time between stages to review and feel confident in your selections before moving forward. If you’re working within a tighter timeline, please let our team know in advance—we’re happy to discuss options for an expedited schedule.
Q: Do you offer a meet-and-greet before booking a design package?
A: We’re happy to offer a Zoom or phone consultation to discuss service options before scheduling a home visit. Your selected design package includes an initial Discovery Consultation, during which our team will take measurements, review design goals, and begin outlining allowances and options in person. If you’d prefer to meet on-site prior to booking, we can arrange that for a $500 fee, which is credited toward your design package should you choose to move forward.
Q: What if I have additional spaces—like pantries, built-ins, or fireplaces—that I’d like to include in my design package?
A: We’re happy to add additional spaces—such as pantries, built-ins, or fireplaces—to your design package, or create a custom package tailored to your needs. Pricing varies based on the complexity of each space. For example, our Secondary Bathroom Package is $1,500 compared to the $3,000 Essentials Design Package. This option provides a detailed 2D layout with curated product selections and a final plan set, rather than fully rendered 3D visuals.
Q: When working with your team, can I shop at my preferred showroom?
A: For our Essentials Design Package, we work exclusively through our wholesale showroom, where all of our manufacturers are represented in one place. This allows us to streamline the design process and extend our discounted trade pricing directly to you.
If you prefer to visit multiple retail showrooms or source from specific vendors, we recommend our Consulting Package, which is billed hourly and offers more flexibility in where and how we shop.
Q: Do you offer stamped plans for structural changes or wall removals?
A: No, we do not provide stamped structural plans directly. If your project requires permitting, engineering, or architectural drawings, our partnered general contractors will coordinate those services as part of the construction phase. Most remodels do not require stamped plans, though larger additions or major structural changes typically will.
Q: Can I contact you by email, phone, or text whenever I need assistance?
A: All clients are onboarded to our Design Portal, which includes an integrated Zoom feature, messaging board (shared with your contractor), and a filing system for organizing project documents and selections.
Please note that our business line and email are not direct contact methods for Brooke. The Essentials Design Package includes three in-person sessions, and any messages outside those sessions will be addressed during the next scheduled meeting.
For Consulting Packages, you’re welcome to message us through the portal whenever assistance is needed.
Our business hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
